With many musicians these days trying to outdo each other in the reception their music video gets, for example Lady Gaga and her 9 minute long Telephone video, stars increase the amount of people who would want to view the music video. This works in synergy as not only do the musicians gain more interest by having a star in their video, the star can also gain more fans, particularly that of the fan base of the artist. Gorillaz recently used Hollywood actor Bruce Willis, famous for the Diehard series, in their music video for ‘Stylo’. This made the video very popular but the single did not have the same impact as it failed to chart in the UK.
Harry Potter actress Emma Watson has also recently starred in a music video for One Night Only’s song ‘Say you don’t want it’. This is due to her dating the signer of the band, but this has produced a high amount of views on the video, and is having an effect on the band and their popularity.
